Most recently, Mike Rufail was chief gaming officer and co-owner of Dallas-based OpTic Gaming and CEO of Dallas-based Envy Gaming, which he founded in 2007. He joins early-stage company TradeOff Financial Corp., which aims to build an online, multiplayer stock and crypto trading game and merit-based social network that gamifies trading education for users.

According to Applied Digital, the investment validates its innovation in the accelerated compute space and will fuel its expansion of data center and GPU cloud solutions. Its current projects include its build-out of "one of the world’s largest data centers" and development of an additional 300MW of data center capacity, the company said.

Dallas-based seed-stage healthcare accelerator Health Wildcatters added nine startups to its growing portfolio, expanding its network of innovators from Texas, the U.S., and Europe. Earlier this year, the accelerator also gained national recognition for its Women in Science and Healthcare initiative, which received a $50,000 award from the U.S. Small Business Administration's Growth Accelerator Fund Competition.

When a new sports franchise has its home debut, it usually doesn't play one of the world's best teams. But that's exactly what Dallas Trinity FC did at the Cotton Bowl Thursday. North Texas' first-ever women's pro soccer club lost 6-0 to Spain's world-famous FC Barcelona Femini. But as today's Last Word notes, it was still a big win for Dallas and for women's sports in the region.
