Toyota to Invest $500M More in Joby Air Taxis as the Companies Work ‘Side by Side’ in California

Toyota, whose North American HQ is in Plano, took its eyes off the road long enough to scan the skies and invest $500 million more in California-based Joby, for a total of $894 million it's invested to date. The investment is aimed at "realizing the two companies’ shared vision of air mobility," Toyota said.

The development will feature Marriott brands AC Hotel and Moxy Hotel, bringing 264 upscale rooms, modern amenities, and unique lifestyle offerings to Uptown Dallas' McKinney Avenue corridor, said Atlanta-based PE firm Peachtree. The project is expected to open in summer 2026.

Children's Health and UT Soutwestern announced that a $100 million gift from The Rees-Jones Foundation will support the construction of the new pediatric campus, just months after the Jean and Mack Pogue family gave its own $100 million gift. This marks the first time in Texas that a not-for-profit construction project has received two individual leadership gifts of $100 million.

North Texas grabbed the world's financial attention again this week with updates from the Dallas-based Texas Stock Exchange, which introduced its expansive leadership team and board members and said it had raised over $135 million to date. In June, TXSE Group announced plans to launch the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE), focused on enabling U.S. and global companies to access U.S. equity capital markets via a “fully electronic, national securities exchange." In the months since, that's led to endless discussion of the impact of North Texas' "Y'All Street." It was capped by yesterday's announcement that the TXSE had raised over $135 million to date as it named members of TXSE's board—including former Texas Governor and former U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry; former SEC Commissioner Rick Roberts; and Alex Bussandri, the global head of strategy at Citadel Securities.

Raytheon's Next Generation Jammer-MBX is an airborne electronic attack system carried by the Boeing EA-18G Growler, a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft. Work on the upgraded system will take place in Dallas and three other U.S. cities "through 2027," Raytheon said.

Doma's underwriting division, Doma Title Insurance Inc., is now a wholly owned subsidiary of TRG. Doma's technology division, renamed Doma Technology LLC, will operate on a separately capitalized basis, the company said. TRG and Doma TechCo will operate as sister companies.
