Woodland Hills, California-based 8020 Consulting has opened its first office outside the Golden State, establishing a foothold in Dallas with local finance veteran Luke Mattorano as managing director.
The move marks a new chapter for the firm, which specializes in finance and accounting consulting. CEO Kellen Smith said the expansion is part of 8020’s strategy to deepen relationships with clients, consultants, and the communities where they work.
Smith called Mattorano “a natural team builder” and said his mix of regional ties and industry expertise make him well-suited to lead the firm’s local growth.
“Luke’s long-standing connections in the region coupled with his strong finance, accounting, and technology background make him uniquely qualified to lead the market,” Smith said in a statement. “We’re excited to witness Luke’s successes as he builds the company’s presence in the region.”
The firm said Mattorano will focus on building 8020’s brand in North Texas by cultivating client relationships, growing the consultant base, and partnering with local industry groups.
Offering ‘practical results-driven support’
Mattorano brings more than 20 years of experience helping companies improve operational performance and boost enterprise value across industries like healthcare, staffing, manufacturing, retail, and consumer products. He’s worked as both an operator and an advisor, including roles as a CFO and in transaction advisory at firms like Arthur Andersen and KPMG.
He said what drew him to 8020 was its hands-on approach.
“What immediately resonated with me about 8020 Consulting is its business model, which is built around delivering high-impact financial and accounting consulting services through experienced, hands-on professionals,” Mattorano said in a statement, “I’ve always believed in the value of practical, results-driven support—not theoretical advice—and 8020 exemplifies that philosophy.”
Mattorano said he plans to build a strong local client base and tackle complex business challenges while growing what he described as a trusted consulting brand in a market he knows well.
Smith said 8020 has spent the past 12 years building a seasoned team in Los Angeles. With Mattorano leading Dallas-Fort Worth, the company expects to replicate that success here—and potentially in other markets down the line.
“With Luke as managing director, we’ll work off that strong foundation to do the same in Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond,” Smith said.
