Actors Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco Will Hologram Into Dallas to Promote Their New Movie

With technology by Proto Hologram, the movie's distributor, Lionsgate, will “magically” bring the illusionist characters played by actors Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Justice Smith, and Ariana Greenblatt into theaters for the first time.

Want to take a selfie with a movie star? You’ll get your chance—holographically speaking—when the Cinemark theater on Webb Chapel Road in Dallas offers a high-tech virtual meetup for moviegoers attending “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” showings, starting Nov. 14.

Moviegoers will have the chance to snag selfies with the movie’s stars—or holographic representations of them—with a first-to-market promotion. The innovative marketing stunt will happen at Cinemark Dallas XD and IMAX, at 11819 Webb Chapel Road, and at 14 other theaters across the country.

“This amazing technology borders on magic, so there’s no better way to anticipate the release of ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,’” Kevin Grayson, president, Worldwide Distribution for Lionsgate, said in a statement. “Get your selfies with the cast now, before they disappear.”

Using technology by Proto Hologram, the movie’s distributor, Lionsgate, will “magically” bring the illusionist characters played by actors Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Justice Smith, and Ariana Greenblatt, into theaters for the first time.

During the promotion, the holograms take out their own cell phones to capture selfies with the theater patrons, who can download the images via QR code, Lionsgate said.

“This represents a new milestone for holographic experiences in cinemas, and the largest theatrical activation Proto has ever delivered,” David Nussbaum, founder and chairman of Proto Hologram, said in a statement. “We were thrilled to work with Lionsgate to bring the cast directly into theater lobbies.”

Movie particulars and hologram locations

Lionsgate said that in the movie, the Four Horsemen (Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Franco and Fisher) are back to unite with a new generation of illusionists (Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Greenblatt) for their most global, high-stakes adventure yet.

The mission: Expose the corruption of Veronika Vanderberg (Rosamund Pike), a powerful diamond heiress with ties to arms dealers, traffickers, and warlords. Aided by the legendary Thaddeus (Morgan Freeman), the two generations of magicians must overcome their differences to try and defeat their cunning and dangerous adversary, in this magic-fueled heist filled with the franchise’s signature twists, turns, and thrilling reveals—along with what Lionsgate calls “some of the most thrilling illusions ever captured on film.”

The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith and Michael Lesslie and Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese, with a story by Eric Warren Singer, based on characters created by Boaz Yakin & Edward Ricourt, and produced by Alex Kurtzman, pga, Roberto Orci, and Bobby Cohen, pga.

Only one other movie theater in Texas is offering the holographic experience: Regal Mrq*E in Houston.
