Dallas-based Rewards.com tied for first recently in the startup competition at the CoinAgenda Global conference for blockchain and cryptocurrency.
Rewards.com tied for first place with a startup called Shopin for its global loyalty rewards solution that uses blockchain technology to offer the first consumer- and retail-focused rewards platform.
CoinAgenda is an annual three-day conference usually held in Europe trying to connect those who are looking to invest in startups and Initial Coin Offering (ICO) opportunities that center around bitcoin, blockchain, and cryptocurrency sectors.
“The quality of companies participating in the largest-ever CoinAgenda has not been hampered by the size of the field.”
Michael Terpin
The CoinAgenda conference was held Oct. 24-26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The startup competition attracted more than 40 competing companies, some of which are preparing to launch their own ICOs, a fundraising method in which startups sell their underlying crypto tokens in exchange for bitcoin and ether.
All pitches were made before a panel of five judges, and five companies were named winners.
Rewards.com tied for first place for its pitch “a worldwide loyalty rewards solution using blockchain technology to provide the first consumer and retail-focused rewards platform,” according to release.
“The quality of companies participating in the largest-ever CoinAgenda has not been hampered by the size of the field,” Michael Terpin, co-founder of BitAngels and CoinAgenda said. “The judges, which included top digital currency funds and angel investors, was impressed by a great many of the presentations, but in the end had to select a top five.
Turpin said the CoinAgenda ICO presenters from last year had gone on to raise more than $350 million.
The first place prize won a complimentary reservation to showcase its work at a future CoinAgenda event, and all of the top five startups will receive exhibit space at a future Blockchain Ecosystem Network (BECON_ event and one ticket to other leading blockchain conferences such as d10e, Keynote, and BLOCK-CON.”
