The US India Chamber of Commerce Foundation is seeking North Texas undergraduate and graduate students with a technology-based invention for its Spirit of Innovation competition.
The two-part contest is designed to promote technology innovation and entrepreneurship. Although more emphasis will be placed on technology development, participants selected to move on to the contest finals also will receive mentoring from experts in the field on crafting business plans.
Students have the opportunity to win $10,000 in prizes to further their products and businesses.
Interested individuals or student teams must fill out an online application before Oct. 20 and either already have a prototype or be able to create one for the first presentation.
Eight teams will be selected by Nov. 7 to move on to the Technology Competition Round where they will present their prototypes during the USICOC-DFW Technology Conference on Nov. 17.
From there, each team will be assigned a mentor that has experience in the realm of their inventions. The mentor will help the team in “both the refinement of their technological innovations from a technical perspective, as well as in the development of their business plans,”according to the contest rules.
Teams will present their business plans and refined innovation in front of judges Jan. 26. Following presentations, contest winners will be named. Those interested in participating in the Spirit of Innovation competition can learn more and apply online here.
