The Home Depot and Its North Texas Subsidiary SRS Distribution Complete $5.5B Acquisition of GMS

The acquisition of Tucker, Georgia-based GMS—a leading distributor of specialty building products—comes a year after The Home Depot acquired McKinney-based SRS in a deal valued at over $18 billion.

The Home Depot has completed its previously announced acquisition of GMS Inc. via its McKinney-based specialty trade distribution subsidiary, SRS Distribution, for a total enterprise value of roughly $5.5 billion.

GMS is a leading distributor of specialty building products including drywall, ceilings, steel framing, and other complementary products related to remodeling and construction projects in residential and commercial end markets. The deal was first announced on June 30.

The Home Depot acquired SRS in 2024 for over $18 billion, and SRS continues to show strong execution, performance, and market share gains, the company said—adding that GMS and SRS will now serve the residential and commercial pro market “more holistically.” That will include more fulfillment and service options that will enable pros to more quickly and seamlessly complete their projects, the company said.

“The addition of GMS further enhances SRS’s position as a leading multi-category building materials distributor, bringing differentiated capabilities, product categories and customer relationships that are highly complementary to SRS’s business today,” Ted Decker, chair, president, and CEO of The Home Depot, said in a statement. “We want to serve the pro across their entire project, and the combination of SRS and GMS will enable cross-selling synergies, strengthen our capabilities, and bring even more opportunities to grow with this important customer.”

The Home Depot said it’s focused on growing its share of wallet with professional contractors, and the company is building differentiated offerings and capabilities to better serve pros across their entire project—from large, complex jobs to smaller renovations and repairs.
