With 21 businesses recognized, Dallas-Fort Worth is home to more than 20 percent of the businesses that made this year’s Aggie 100 list.
The Aggie 100 recognizes the 100 fastest-growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses around the world. It was created by the Mays Business School’s McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship at Texas A&M University, which provides encouragement, education, networking, and assistance to students, faculty, and Texas businesses that have an entrepreneurial mindset.
The center solicits nominations for the list from the across the globe via the Aggie Network.
At No. 13, the highest-ranked DFW company is Dallas startup Modern Message — the youngest DFW company on the list. In June, Dallas Innovates reported the startup had garnered a $2 million Series A investment for expansion of its team and apartment engagement platform that allows apartment complexes larger than 100 units to engage with their residents through a community rewards program.
“The industry is really embracing it, so we see a lot of growth coming,” Modern Message CEO and founder John Hinckley told D CEO.
Here are other DFW-related highlights from the list:
The year 2011 was a good year for Aggies to found companies in DFW, with six being created in that year, including two of the top three — No. 15 Elite Fulfillment Solutions and No. 19 Bison Coolers.
The oldest DFW company on the list is Guardian Services, which was founded in 1975.
