See Inside: Solar Energy-Focused Firm Opens New U.S. HQ and Innovation Center in Richardson

Chint Power Solutions America, a subsidiary of electronic components maker Chint Group, has made Richardson the new home of its U.S. HQ and Innovation Center—in yet another California HQ move to North Texas.

As CPS seeks to grow its presence in the solar and clean energy space, it will use the Innovation Center "to shape what’s next in solar and energy storage technology."

A firm focused on helping clients harness solar energy has opened the doors to its new U.S. headquarters in North Texas.

Chint Power Solutions America, a subsidiary of electronic components maker Chint Group, has made Richardson the new home of its U.S. HQ as it seeks to grow its presence in the solar and clean energy space.

“The CPS America team has worked incredibly hard to make our new headquarters a center for innovation,” said Bryan Wagner, general manager for CPS America, in a statement. “Meeting the needs of our customers now while looking ahead to shape what’s next in solar and energy storage technology was our primary goal in designing this new space.”

A provider of solar array hardware and services for commercial and industrial markets, CPS has housed its research and development lab in the city since it was formed in 2009. Now the company says Richardson will host a new “innovation center,” network operations center, and warehouse services in addition to its U.S. service team.

Wagner told Dallas Innovates that the Richardson HQ houses about 25 employees. That number is likely to grow. Wagner said CPS is entering the utility-scale segment of the industry in the next 18 months, a move the company expects will potentially help triple its revenue.

The headquarters will serve as a hands-on training center and hub for the CPS services team. The company said the Richardson location benefits it by its proximity to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and North Texas’ central geographic location in the U.S.

According to CPS America’s LinkedIn, the company has its business operations in New Jersey and its supply chain operations and products and engineering operations in California, where its previous headquarters was located, per Sunpec Alliance.

CPS America’s parent says it has more than 30,000 employees and has annual sales revenue of more than $11.4 billion.
