Reunion Lawn Party

Ruthie’s Rolling Cafe took part in the second annual Reunion Lawn Party this summer. The event series, designed to have the feel of a backyard party, concluded Aug. 27 with a Mavs takeover.

From Texas Motor Speedway to Downtown Dallas Inc., to Bud Light and Nodding Donkey, many folks rallied behind the community event.

Attendees enjoyed Ruthie’s sandwiches all evening long, as well as performances by the Mavs dancers and Mavs ManiAACs. Longtime NBA veteran and Dallas Mavericks player Devin Harris even stopped by to light up the sky with the special button ceremony that turned on the ball’s light show. There was a special Mavs light show tribute in honor of the special guests.

To everyone’s surprise, a marriage proposal took place in the middle of headliner Le Freak’s set. One of the Le Freak band members ushered a military veteran on stage.

Nick Perez, the man with a big question to ask, invited his girlfriend, Yvette, on stage as well. She looked baffled and cautiously joined him.

Everyone in the crowd — all 5,000 folks — knew where this was heading. Their phones were lighting up the lawn, as everyone anxiously was poised to capture the magic moment.

The proposal was heartfelt and enchanting, and Le Freak concluded the moment with a group hug with the newly engaged couple onstage.

Suffice it to say, the last Reunion Lawn Party truly went out with a bang.
