Addison-based Nexus PMG, which offers built-to-spec solutions for large scale infrastructure projects, has announced the launch of Nexus Dev, a separate $20 million investment vehicle that was made possible by a partnership with a strategic investor.

Nexus Dev, which is supported by Nexus PMG, was created to provide project development capital to renewable and circular economy assets. Because a number of infrastructure projects face a gap in obtaining financing, Nexus Dev wants to be the source of capital, services, and expertise developers needed to complete project development.

As Josh Kaufman, Nexus Dev’s president, puts it: Many developers know about the “dry-powder” that investors have, but just “can’t seem to access it.”

“We want to help developers create de-risked and bankable projects, then assist them to source the best permanent capital option among an expanded investor universe,” he said in a statement. “And we’re able to invest in sectors like biogas, renewable diesel, and wood pellets because of the expertise at Nexus PMG.”

That Nexus PMG expertise centers around the firm’s focus on low-carbon infrastructure projects. Through its advisory and project development services, Nexus PMG assists investors and developers on projects that reduce carbon intensity and enhance resource efficiency.

It’s what the team calls “the point where project finance, development, and operations connect”—Nexus PMG’s sustainable infrastructure project development, engineering, and operations experience provides for a “bespoke approach” to assessing and mitigating investment risk.

And Nexus Dev leverages that.

“We’re doing everything in our power to build a better world and move the needle when it comes to reducing the impacts of climate change,” Nexus PMG CEO Ben Hubbard said in a statement. “We see this as an opportunity to put money behind these necessary endeavors to reduce infrastructure’s carbon intensity.”

Projects can be submitted to Nexus Dev for consideration through a questionnaire form on its website.
