McKinney-Based MyTelemedicine Launches a New Telehealth Service—For Your Pet

The GoLexi Pet Telehealth service, powered by MyTelemedicine, offers pet owners around-the-clock, expert-level virtual consultations by phone or video call. It's not meant to replace in-office visits or life-threatening situations, though: The platform's licensed veterinarians can give users advice, a second opinion, or treatment options.

When COVID-19 proliferated across the nation, bringing with it shutdowns and stay-at-home orders, we found ourselves thrust into a new digital age. Board room meetings became video conference calls, Zoom took over classrooms, and doctor’s offices became your bedroom.

Many companies were on the forefront of the rapidly rising virtual era, especially when it came to telehealth.

Take McKinney-based MyTelemedicine, for instance. The already fast-growing virtual medical solutions company powers access to remote healthcare technologies through its brands like Access a Doctor and Zeally Health. Through MyTelemedicine’s clinically driven solutions, healthcare providers are able to virtually manage patients for common acute illnesses, specialty care, and chronic conditions.

When COVID-19 hit, Founder and CEO Rey Colón and his team offer even more virtual medical solutions—and ride the wave of the future.

Newest to launch under the MyTelemedicine brand is GoLexi, a real-time telehealth service, but for your furry friend.

The MyTelemedicine calls the GoLexi Pet Telehealth service a timely solution. When the country initially went into lockdown, they say, animal shelters saw a spike, as people holed up at home began adopting animals to fill a void normally occupied by social interaction.

With that came a need for reliable and accessible veterinary care.

GoLexi offers pet owners around-the-clock, expert-level virtual consultations by phone or video call. The user-friendly telehealth platform pairs licensed veterinarians with users in need of advice on pet wellness and behavioral issues—like pain in the middle of the night—to determine if a visit to the emergency clinic is necessary.

According to the MyTelemedicine team, it’s essentially a reliable resource for high-level information. GoLexi isn’t meant to replace regular in-office visits or life-threatening situations.

“Several of our clients said they wanted to offer a solution in the pet space as they saw the growing demand, so we leveraged our virtual care platform to meet the need,” Colón said in a statement. “When we recognized the need in the veterinary space, I knew our team could create a solution for four-legged members of the family, as well.”

GoLexi is powered by MyTelemedicine, which was founded in 2015 to give people around the world access to immediate healthcare with a secure mobile solution.

Last May Zeally Health was established as a digital platform for healthcare providers to conduct video visits with patients through MyTelemedicine’s Access a Doctor mobile app. The platform now has more than 3 million members nationwide, completing more than 250,000 virtual consultations.

Then, in December, the company moved to its new McKinney headquarters thanks to an Innovation Fund grant from the city’s EDC. The startup plans to add 40 new high-tech and executive jobs over the next three years, nearly tripling its current staffing.
