COMMON DESK – FORT WORTH’S FIRST ANNIVERSARY PARTY

Common Desk – Fort Worth is celebrating one year of providing coworking spaces and amenities to the Fort Worth community. Event highlights include a live art demo, pop-up retail shops, and live music.

DENTON STARTUP CRAWL

Startup crawls are the new bar crawls at this event. Guests can learn more about Denton’s startups through this walking tour as attendees will not only see the exterior of startups, but will also be able to go inside the spaces and talk to the founders of these companies.

NEED TO KNOW: CRYPTOCURRENCY AND BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY: A SPECIAL FORUM FOR WOMEN

HACKING FOR HUMANITY WITH GIRLS IN TECH DALLAS

Hack for change with Girls in Tech Dallas at their inaugural hackathon event. During the two-day event, topics affecting local DFW communities such as economic disparity and affordable housing will be tackled. Any level of Hacker is welcome to come and participate.

CHEFS FOR FARMERS

This year’s three-day Chefs for Farmers kicks off Friday night with the popular Fearing’s Fall Harvest Backyard Fest, and wraps up Sunday with the Main Event. The yearly weekend is committed to showing off Dallas’s best chefs and food artisans, while also celebrating the farmers that make it all possible. The calorie-filled culinary festival pays tribute to our North Texas region as an emerging food city through events that highlight the culinary ecosystem as a whole. As food citizens of the world, the organization says it balances a dedication to sustainability, eco-consciousness, and charity with its greatest goal: putting on the best food festival Dallas has ever seen.

SATURDAY, NOV. 3

BSIDESDFW, INFORMATION SECURITY AND TECHNOLOGY UNCONFERENCE 
Richland College in Dallas

No matter what your current knowledge level is of the world of information security and technology, everyone is invited to learn more about the hacker/maker communities through this one-day event. There will be something for all to enjoy with activities ranging from informational workshops to a hacker scavenger hunt.

AURORA – LIGHT, VIDEO, SOUND, DIGITAL ART EXPERIENCE
City Hall in Dallas

Downtown Dallas will be transformed for the night into an art show unlike any other. AURORA is “one of the nation’s largest outdoor exhibitions” and is also “the largest event of its kind in the United States.” Attendees can experience the sights and sounds of Dallas in a completely new way.

RESTAURANT INNOVATION SUMMIT

For the first time, Dallas will host the National Restaurant Association’s 2018 Restaurant Innovation Summit. Some of the biggest brands in the country will be on-hand — Yum!, Kellogg, White Castle, PayPal, FoodLogiQ — for thoughtful explorations of the latest in restaurant tech. Innovation-focused leaders and C-level executives from across various restaurant categories will gather to converse about diverse topics, such as elevating the guest experience, maximizing operations, and staying ahead of tech trends.

LONE STAR FILM FESTIVAL

After almost a year of planning, the 2018 Lone Star Film Festival is about to be underway with a lineup of 111 films selected out of the nearly 1,000 films submitted. Cine-Más, a Latino-focused film series, is among the selections that will be debuted during this year’s festival.

GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK OPENING PARTY

Global Entrepreneurship Week is starting off with an opening party in Fort Worth. The IREB building on the University of North Texas Health Science Center campus is brand new, and the party gives entrepreneurs the chance to connect with one another, engage, and inspire, all while overlooking downtown Fort Worth. This weekend is designed to help launch the ideas of entrepreneurs over 54 hours.
